Prunus serrulata ‘Shirotae’

Common Name: Mt. Fuji Cherry Tree
Strong horizontal branching gives this tree an umbrell-like form, but it’s not turned down at the edges. Grows to 15–20 ft. tall and 25 ft. wide. Pink buds open into white flowers that age purplish pink. This is an early bloomer. Striking orange-yellow foliage drops in autumn. Buy a tree that has not been top-pruned, which forces horizontal branching to start much too low, giving you a tree you can’t possibly mow under.
